History

In 1953, with the establishment of the 'Metaalindustrie en Constructiewerkplaats P. van der Leegte', the foundation was laid for the family business that is now VDL Groep (Van Der Leegte Groep).

The traditional Eindhoven family business was founded by Pieter van der Leegte senior. The first customers were Philips, the former employer of Pieter van der Leegte, and DAF Trucks. The activities of the first five employees consisted of turning, milling and drilling, as well as stamping, welding and soldering work in series.

Today, the activities of VDL Groep are divided into 4 divisions, namely: supplies, car assembly, buses and end products.

VDL Seating Systems was created because the former professional football player, Tommie van der Leegte (including PSV, FC Twente, Wolfsburg, Ado Den Haag, NAC and RKC), got the idea to combine these qualities and to develop stadium seats. It turned out to be a golden combination, in recent years we were allowed to add PSV Eindhoven, Basra Sports City in Iraq, Ajax Amsterdam, Feyenoord Rotterdam, FC Twente, Vitesse and RKC Waalwijk to our customer portfolio.

Thanks to the various competencies of the VDL operating companies, VDL Seating Systems can produce entirely within the group of companies. In this way, the quality from design to installation can be guaranteed.
