Over VDL Groep

VDL Groep, with its head office in Eindhoven, is an international industrial family business with 105 companies, spread over 19 countries and with approximately 15,000 employees. The VDL companies are divided into four divisions: Supplies, Car Assembly, Buses and Finished Products.

Strength through cooperation

Strength through cooperation. That is the basis of VDL Groep. This company was founded in 1953 by Pieter van der Leegte. Initially, VDL Groep was a specialist in metalworking. Later on, the portfolio was expanded with plastics processing, the development, production and sales of buses, and the company also specialized in high-tech supplies for the semiconductor industry, among others.

VDL Groep is now a large supplier and semi-finished product, makes its own end products, such as suspension systems, the automated layout of car factories, heat exchangers and container handling systems, and the family business with VDL Nedcar in Born has the only passenger car factory in the Netherlands where serial assembly takes place for third parties.

VDL Groep innovates through a combination of craftsmanship, entrepreneurship and high-quality machines. The group of companies combines the strength of a multinational with the flat organization and the open, informal working atmosphere of a family business where career opportunities and continuity are given priority.

The combined annual turnover in 2019 amounts to 5.780 billion euros. After 50 years of entrepreneurship, Wim van der Leegte transferred the management of the family business in November 2017 to the management team, which includes his three children Pieter, Jennifer and Willem. Willem van der Leegte succeeded his father as president of VDL Groep.
